Miscellany

Glimpses from this week

There’s going to be a wedding around here…

My older daughter designed and made a wedding dress, as well as a black felt tuxedo for the groom. It entailed two trips to JoAnn’s, for lace and satin. Today she’s making the invitations. I may post a picture of the happy couple when the grand event is achieved.

This is our back yard bunny, who has a habit of grazing on clover just the other side of the fence from the lettuce. He cracked us up this week power-lounging, the picture of extreme comfort.

I wish he would be more wary. There are two Cooper’s hawks and two broad-winged hawks patrolling the neighborhood.

Inside, the scene was similar as Whisper, a.k.a. Bunny Buns, a.k.a. Bunsen Bunnydew, meditated.

I often think of Watership Down, and the conversation the wild rabbits have with the hutch rabbits, and wonder what these bunnies would say to each other if they ever met.

Last but not least, I’ve been wanting a picture of the male ruby-throated hummingbird as he hovers just outside my window in the mornings, but he’s so very quick I gave up long ago. This morning he was so occupied in driving off another male from the feeder that he gave me several opportunities to photograph him.

Of course, I’m never satisfied. Now I want a photo of BOTH males duking it out. But meantime, I’m pleased to have these.

Have a relaxing weekend!
