Chipping sparrow
This pretty little chipping sparrow is becoming a regular visitor. We think of sparrows as “common,” but I think this is a really lovely, delicately marked little bird.
Maybe we’ll have a family nesting here.

Wow, how do you get such good, clear photos of them? I usually have to take pictures of them through my window, which includes the screen. If I open the door to step outside, they scatter.

Beautiful photo, Janet! I’m with Barbara– how do you do it? I’m learning more about birds (and noticing them more and more as I do), but I’m far from good at it.

Our feeder is attached to the house, right outside the dining room window. (No screen.) So as long as I don’t move too quickly I can get pictures of most of them. The cardinal is quite skittish, and so are the goldfinches. So those are challenges.:-)
I’d like to keep a bird photo log of sorts this year. They give me a lot of pleasure.

Birds might be one of the best examples of things common that are so stunning and almost unbelievable in their glory. Thank you for sharing the pictures – I get a lot of vicarious enjoyment from them.

I wish I were a bird watcher-but I have so little patience. For now, I’m enjoying your photos.

those photos turned out fabulous. We don’t have those sparrows here and they are quite lovely.
