TBR in 2009: A nonbinding resolution

Normally I don’t do “To Be Read” lists. But I’m going out on a limb here and listing some titles that intrigue me… otherwise I’ll forget them! I intend this as a noncommittal — er — commitment list.

  1. At least one of Joel Rosenberg’s political thrillers DONE: Review here.
  2. Left to Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust (Imaculee Ilibageza — recommended by unfinished person) Didn’t read this one.
  3. Parenting is Your Highest Calling (Leslie Leyland Fields) Didn’t read this one.
  4. Cry, the Beloved Country (Alan Paton — recommended at Hope Is the Word) DONE: Review here.
  5. A few presidential biographies, starting with Washington (an idea I got from Semicolon) DONE: Review here.
  6. Renew My Heart (John Wesley — recommended at Worthwhile Books) STARTED this one: Review here.
  7. American Gods (Neil Gaiman — recommended by several bloggers) Tried and failed; read Stardust instead.
  8. The Bible, cover-to-cover (using The Daily Bible) Even though I said I wasn’t going to do any challenges this year, I changed my mind and decided to join in at Operation Actually Read Bible. Becky’s challenge looks like a great place to check in monthly and take an encouraging peek at how others are doing with their goals. Failed; I’m only up to the book of John. (I’m not really sorry. I’ve been reading regularly, and it just works better for me to take my time.)
